The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Last week on the blog:
- On Sunday, June 21st, I posted last-last week’s Sunday Post.
- On Monday, June 22nd, I posted my review of Nimona by Noelle Stevenson. 5 stars! This was an awesome graphic novel
- On Wednesday, June 24th, I posted my Waiting on Wednesday for Mechanica by Betsy Cornwell.
- On Thursday, June 25th, I posted my review of Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone. 4 stars. Really good book about a girl with OCD.
- On Friday, June 26th, I posted my review of Blue Karma by J. K. Ullrich. 5 stars! Excellent, excellent book in the “cli-fi” sub-genre.
What I read:
- 5 to 1 by Holly Bodger. Interesting book, definitely a really good read, but I was left wanting more…
Soon to be reviewed:
EDIT: Click on a title to read my review.
- The Heir by Kiera Cass. 3 stars. As expected, Kiera Cass’s newest Selection book was equally frustrating as it was addicting. I have love/hate relationships with all her books.
- 5 to 1 by Holly Bodger. 3 stars.
Currently reading:
- The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh.
- Alive by Scott Sigler.
- The Killing Season by Mason Cross.
I have a feeling The Wrath and the Dawn will be what I finish next. But I seriously need to finish Alive and The Killing Season ASAP. Like, I’m going to try to finish them before I start any new books.
The library haul:
Here’s what I picked up from the library this week.
- The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh.
- Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton.
- Illusionarium by Heather Dixon.
- Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley.
- Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge.
- The Cage by Megan Shepherd.
A Thousand and One Nights retelling! Ballet! Steampunk! Fantasy world up in the sky with bird-like people?! Red Riding Hood retelling! Aliens! Four of these books I featured in Waiting on Wednesday posts, so I am super pumped to get to read them finally!

It looks like we have similar reading tastes. This week, I bought 5 to 1, The Wrath and the Dawn, and Magonia. I haven’t had a chance to post about them, though.

I really liked 5 to 1 and The Wrath and the Dawn, although both left me wanting more… Have yet to start Magonia, but I’m looking forward to it!

Ahh, 5 to 1! I love that book a lot 🙂 I wish you had loved it more, but I do agree that it reads a little too short… definitely could have used more development, for one, but I really thought it was a great and refreshing dystopia so I gave that one 5 stars 😀
I’m curious to know your thoughts to Wrath and the Dawn. I read that one not too long ago and wasn’t too pleased with it, but it seems like it’s one of those book you’ll either love or feel luekwarm to. And Crimson Bound and Magonia are amaaazing. Hope you love them!

I just finished The Wrath and the Dawn and really liked it, although I did have problems with it. I have some mixed feelings about it, although I did enjoy it overall. I also cannot wait to start Crimson Bound — retellings are the best!!
