The 2015 releases I meant to get to but didn’t (or, Look at all these books rolling over to my 2016 TBR list) | Top Ten Tuesday [#20]

This week’s topic is pretty self-explanatory if you read the post title. Let’s cut the introductions and get to all the books I really wanted to read last year but didn’t. Sound off in the comments the ones you recommend I should prioritize first! (Books are listed in no particular order.)

The Books:

               

1. Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy. [Goodreads] Girl power in the form of something that I believe is demeaning to women (pageants).
2. Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton. [Goodreads] I’m always interested in ballet books!
3. Da Vinci’s Tiger by L.M. Elliott. [Goodreads] L.M. Elliott is a favorite historical fiction author of mine, so I have to read this Renaissance novel about Leonardo Da Vanci’s muse.
4. Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson. [Goodreads] The other most-hyped YA Western from 2015 (the other was Vengeance Road).
5. Uprooted by Naomi Novik. [Goodreads] An adult fairy-tale-like high fantasy.
6. Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin. [Goodreads] An alternate historical novel where Hitler won World War II. I am intrigued.
7. Hotel Ruby by Suzanne Young. [Goodreads] I’ve enjoyed Suzanne’s A Want So Wicked and Hotel Ruby sounds really unique and fun and creepy.
8. Kalahari by Jessica Khoury. [Goodreads] I really liked Jessica’s Origin and Vitro, so I want to see what the third companion novel in the CORPUS sci-fi series is like.
9. The Storyspinner by Becky Wallace. [Goodreads] I just really want to read all the high fantasy that exists out there, and The Storyspinner is just nagging at me to read it.
10. These Shallow Graves by Jennifer Donnelly. [Goodreads] Murder mystery set in an historical New York City. Sign me up for this.
11. Under a Painted Sky by Stacey Lee. [Goodreads] Probably the book I want to read the most from this list in preparation for Stacey Lee’s second historical novel, Outrun the Moon.
12. Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine. [Goodreads] What if the Great Library of Alexandria had survived?
13. Soundless by Richelle Mead. [Goodreads] This didn’t get very good reviews, but I’m always willing to read books based on Asian cultures or featuring Asian characters. EDIT: Check out my review of Soundless here!
14. Serpentine by Cindy Pon. [Goodreads] See above.
15. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. [Goodreads] I’ve heard nothing but praise for Leigh Bardugo’s new book in the Grisha universe.
16. Made You Up by Francesca Zappia. [Goodreads] Definitely the prettiest cover on this list, and perhaps of 2015 releases in general!
