Waiting on Wednesday [#33] — The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine.

What book am I eagerly anticipating at this moment? Why it just so happens to be…

The Winner’s Kiss
by Marie Rutkoski
Book #3 in The Winner’s Trilogy

Releases March 29th 2016 by Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR)

EDIT: Check out my review of The Winner’s Kiss here!

War has begun. Arin is in the thick of it with untrustworthy new allies and the empire as his enemy. Though he has convinced himself that he no longer loves Kestrel, Arin hasn’t forgotten her, or how she became exactly the kind of person he has always despised. She cared more for the empire than she did for the lives of innocent people—and certainly more than she did for him.

At least, that’s what he thinks.

In the frozen north, Kestrel is a prisoner in a brutal work camp. As she searches desperately for a way to escape, she wishes Arin could know what she sacrificed for him. She wishes she could make the empire pay for what they’ve done to her.

But no one gets what they want just by wishing.

As the war intensifies, both Kestrel and Arin discover that the world is changing. The East is pitted against the West, and they are caught in between. With so much to lose, can anybody really win?

I liked The Winner’s Curse. I really liked The Winner’s Crime. I finally got on board the Kestrel and Arin ship in book 2, and really bought into the overall series plot. I am expecting to love The Winner’s Kiss. I hope it will be an epic conclusion with some great kisses. Also, I’ll be able to finish a series! And that feels like great progress, since it feels like I start 10x more series than I finish/can keep up with!

Are you looking forward to reading The Winner’s Kiss?

  1. UGH, I need that book, too! Although I have to say the cover looks a little awkward with the shoulder holding thing, haha XD

I definitely know what you mean about series, though! I feel like I start a new one every week, and never finish any. So we can both feel a little accomplishment when we get around to reading this one 😀

I am really hoping for a Happily Ever After for Kestrel and Arin. I think we’ll get it, but I will SO SAD if we don’t. crosses fingers

As always, I am waiting for The Raven King. Come mid-April I won’t be able to say that any more :O

    1. Yeah, this is my least favorite of the covers, but it’s still pretty. And yes, FINISHING A SERIES is going to feel awesome. I just hope this book is a great conclusion to the series. And aaaaah The Raven King–I am so excited. I desperately need to read The Dream Thieves and Blue Lily, Lily Blue ASAP, though. Gah, I’m so behind on my series, lol.

  2. Oh, I feel you! I NEEEEED this book. This has to be one of my most anticipated books of the year, easily. I also can’t wait for The Beauty of Darkness, which is of course another series ender. Lots of those this year and it kind of makes me sad! But then also excited 🙂 I really hope we get an epic conclusion!!

Got something to say? SPILL!
